Service & calibration

Service

Why service?

Service of scales has become more and more important in recent years, when many have requirements for maintenance, calibration with traceable weights, etc.

In this day and age of ‘electronic’ scales, one might wonder whether servicing is needed to the same extent as on ‘mechanical’ scales? What you may not know is that the so-called “electronic” scale is half mechanical!

Laboratory scales have a precision measuring cell that needs adjustment and cleaning.

Scales with a built-in trimming weight are good for reducing sensitivity drift, but the weight also needs regular cleaning and the calibration factor of this weight also needs to be adjusted against an external traceable weight. That’s why service and maintenance are so important to ensure and improve the quality of work.

Traceable weight standards

Most people working with some form of quality system today have a requirement that service and calibration must be performed with traceable weights.

So what are traceable weights?

Traceable weights are weight standards which, through regular calibration, for example at the national mass measurement site, achieve traceability to the world standard at the BIPM in Paris.

Traceability is very important to achieve an unbroken chain from measurement results to the world standard.

Service contracts

Most of our customers have service contracts for their scales.

A service contract makes it easy to get the highest accuracy out of your scales.
At the annual visit:

For example, full-service contracts also include remedial repairs in case of scale failure. We have different types of contracts, contact us if you want to know more.
